Zombies took the fountain stage on Oct. 26 at noon promoting Cosumnes River College’s Associated Student Government safe family and community trick-or-treat night which will take place Halloween night from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the cafeteria.

Every table and bench in the quad was filled and students milled about while they watched 10 students in zombie costumes as they did the “Thriller” dance on stage.

Lisa Marchand, an English as a second language professor, encouraged her students to attend cultural events like this on campus. She said she was disappointed that most of her students chose to stay in class in front of the computers.

“Students are curious, especially about Halloween,” Marchand said. “They think it’s scary and I want them to see it’s just fun.”

Sucoyia Granderson, a 21-year-old social behavioral science and fashion major, led the “Thriller” dance and made announcements for the Halloween trick-or-treat night and reiterated the information from the fliers zombies were handing out.

She said the event is free, and according to the flier, the Student Council hopes to provide a safe place for families to trick-or-treat on Halloween.

“There will be cartoonists, healthy snacks, face painting and there will be a drawing for kids ages 5-11,” Granderson said.

To RSVP, contact Sandra Rodriquez, Community Activities Advisor, at (916) 691-7405.
