Fall Club Rush returns Wednesday between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. in the quad and is an occasion for students to meet new people, participate in activities and support clubs.
Fall Club Rush is coordinated by the Club and Events Board on campus and is one of their biggest events. It’s an opportunity for clubs to promote themselves to gain members and fundraise by selling items such as food, sweets, trinkets and boo bags, said student life supervisor Kayla Anaya.
The event will have music, outdoor games and spaces for students to mingle.
Eighteen clubs will table at the event, including Drama Club, Muslim Student Association, Outdoors Club, Transfer Community Club and more.
“There’s the ability to connect and to unite and to learn more about your campus,” said Meliza Perkins, the club and events coordinator for Cosumnes River College. “There’s a lot of resources on campus that not a lot of students know about and not a lot of students use to their full advantage.”
Drama Club president and 19-year-old studio art major Anthony Perez said the Drama Club will be selling handmade plushies.
Clubs provide opportunities for students to connect with others who have the same interests as them outside of the classroom, Anaya said.
“It gives them a chance to find a club that they may be interested in joining, as well as hoping to support clubs through buying our fundraising items so that we can plan out for bigger events,” Perez said.
Anaya said having clubs on campus gives students an opportunity to utilize spaces and make connections with other students.
“If the students didn’t have spaces to frequent or clubs to access, then they would just come to class and then go home. There would be no purpose of staying on campus,” Anaya said. “This allows students with similar interests to get together and create events or take part in conversations around topics that they enjoy.”
