Summer is quickly approaching and we’re all anxious to take a break from school and work. What’s better than taking a road trip with your friends and family? But where are the best places to take a road trip to and what is there to do?

1. Huntington Beach, CA

Huntington Beach is a great place to take a road trip with friends and family. There are many things to do in this small beach town. Open all year round, Huntington Beach’s Main Street attracts many people with multiple surf shops, clothing stores, restaurants and its pier plaza. One of the main events that attracts tourists to H.B. is the U.S. Open of Surfing which runs  July 28 through August 5. There are also Fourth of July parades on Main Street with night time fireworks, shooting over the beachfront city.

2. Disneyland in Anaheim, CAKnown for Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure Park, Anaheim is a great place to visit with family and friends to hang out. There are many rides and street shows that appeal to all ages. One popular show is the firework show, which happen every night right before closing. Visitors can purchase hopper passes, which allows them to go back and forth to Disneyland and California Adventure. Downtown Disney is an amazing place to hang out with many shops and restaurants for all ages.

The most popular is the Circus Circus Hotel. There are also romantic spots for a date night, such as taking a walk in Paris at the Eiffel Tower Experience.

4. San Diego, CA

Many come to San Diego to go to the San Diego Zoo or Seaworld. What tourists should go to San Diego for is its beautiful and warm beaches. And if you’re into sports, it’s the home to the professional teams the Chargers and the Padres. One of the best places to visit is Balboa Park. It’s the largest urban cultural park in North America with many activities such as 16 museums, 16 gardens and several other attractions. For those who are into entertainment, Comic-Con is the place the be. Comic-Con is July 12-15 and is located in the San Diego Convention Center.

5. Lake Tahoe, CA

Some people like to go to the beach in the summer, while some like to go to the mountains to camp and hike. Tahoe is the perfect place to do both. As the second largest lake in the U.S., Tahoe attracts many tourists with its natural beauty, crystal blue water and beautiful mountains surrounding the lake. With a variety of things to do such as hiking, biking, water rafting, boating and other different types of water sports, Tahoe is a great place to take a trip with family and friends. There are also many casinos in the area.
