A Cosumnes River College employee found a dead individual in the parking structure on Tuesday night. The deceased individual was a former CRC student and the campus was on lockdown for over 40 minutes.

A deceased individual was found on Cosumnes River College’s campus near the west side of the main entrance in the parking structure on Tuesday night, according to an email sent out from CRC.
The Los Rios Community College District sent out an email alert to initiate precautionary lockdown procedures at 5 p.m. and the campus stayed on lockdown for over 40 minutes.
“Los Rios PD conducted CPR and called emergency personnel. He was pronounced dead at the scene,” said Communications and Public Information Officer Kristie West, in a statement sent via email. “Sac PD arrived and conducted an investigation, it was ruled a suicide.”
The individual was identified as a former student at CRC. The initial investigation indicated no foul play, according to the CRC email.
“A CRC employee found the individual and called the police,” said Chief Strategy and Communications Officer of LRCCD Gabe Ross in a statement sent via email.
Ross said the nature of the individual’s injuries were unknown initially, which caused CRC to place the campus on precautionary lockdown until law enforcement could be sure there was no threat to the campus.
