Permit enforcement resumes for student parking

Daily permits are available at pay stations near the lot entrances. Semester long permits can be purchased through e-services or in the business office.

Student parking permits on the Cosumnes River College campus have not been required since the pandemic in 2020, but that requirement resumes this semester.
Permits are required for automobiles, motorcycles and staff vehicles. A day pass can be purchased for $2 from machines near the entrance of each parking lot.
During the fall and spring semesters, student automobile permits are $41 per vehicle, but if carpooling with three or more passengers, the permit is $36. Students who received the California College Promise Grant can purchase a parking permit for $30.
Motorcycle permits for the fall and spring semesters are $26.
Communications and Public Information Officer Kristie West said there is a slow transition out of the pandemic as CRC continues to offer more classes on-campus.
“This is the first semester since the start of the pandemic that we will require them as we continue to return to normal,” West said.
Brandon Metz, an undeclared 25-year-old student, said the parking pass should be included if students are receiving financial aid.
“If you already get assistance, they should write that off,” Metz said.
First-semester student Esteban Madriz Mendoza, a 19-year-old business administration major, has not gotten his permit yet.
“If it’s $30 to $40 for the semester, I think that’s better than paying the $2 per day,” said Mendoza.
“We want to encourage students to buy their permits online as soon as possible to ensure they arrive on time,” West said. “For those students who may not be coming to campus very often, they will still have the option to purchase a daily ticket.”
According to the rules in section three of Los Rios CCD Administrative Regulation 2252: Student Parking Fees, parking availability is not guaranteed with the purchase of a parking permit. The responsibility falls on the driver of the vehicle to find a legal parking space.
This will be the first semester in which citations may be issued if a permit is not present.
There are seven parking lots for students labeled A through F circling the entire campus with the exclusion of G, as that lot is for staff only.
In addition to these seven student lots, there is a five-story student parking garage with a capacity of 2,018 spaces, according to International Parking Design.
Semester parking permits are valid at all four Los Rios District campuses, displayed as a decal in the vehicle’s windshield.
