Cosumnes River College students had the opportunity to meet with local and state universities to get their questions answered during Transfer Day in the quad on Sept. 24.
More than 50 colleges came to campus to recruit students and address questions that students may have had.
“When you have 45 credits, you need to start exploring transfer options,” said Sarah Sweitzer, the dean for the Stockton campus of Stanislaus State University.
“I think days like this are super important for students because they have the opportunity to see programs across a number of universities,” Sweitzer said. “The better opportunity you have to engage and ask questions, the better informed you are as a consumer.”
Nghi Tran, a 19-year-old international student majoring in computer science, credits CRC for preparing her to transfer.
“I would say CRC gave me a lot of resources,” Tran said. “And also a community where I would get to know other people and help me decide the right path.”
College recruiters said they also found transfer day helpful.
“These are great events,” said Dr. Suzanne Clark, the admissions director for the California Northstate University College of Pharmacy. “We were here last year as well. It’s great not only for students to explore options, but for us to know what courses students are interested in and how we can help down the right path.”
The transfer application period begins Oct. 1, with the deadline for many universities being Nov. 30, according to the campus website.
