CRC’s tutoring center reopens on campus for fall. The tutoring services will continue to be online and in-person for students to use.

The fall semester will have student services, such as the tutoring center and more to return part-time on campus.
For more than a year, student services have operated remotely.
In March, Cosumnes River College announced that more on-campus services for the fall 2021 semester would be offered.
More recently, a plan to reopen CRC included many options for a safe return. However, there are still things to consider.
It’s important to note the different availability each student service offers. For example, hours vary for each service as well as whether or not an appointment is required to access these services.
While there is no appointment necessary at the tutoring center on campus, individual tutoring appointments are still available on Zoom.
“All of our tutoring is being conducted 100% on Zoom, however our Reading and Writing Center, math and tutoring center are open in case students want to use the lab,” Tutoring Services Coordinator Ryana Fisher said.
Instructional assistants as well as Anna Tinoco, a clerk at the tutoring center, provide tutoring online and are present on campus.
“Even though they’re in the center, in case students come in, they’re also still manning the Zoom room for the Math Center or the RWC,” Fisher said.
Despite the instructional assistants and Tinoco being present at CRC, they cannot physically tutor students at any center.
This is because it would be difficult to tutor anyone while staying six feet apart from students. This isn’t the only guideline students or staff will have to follow.
“Come Oct. 1, everyone that uses on-campus services has to be fully vaccinated, including our staff,” Fisher said. “Everyone on our staff, and students also have to wear masks.”
To keep things safe, the maintenance staff disinfects the centers every night on-campus.
With things coming back to a safe return, students and staff are eager for a return to campus.
“Our staff, they were happy,” Fisher said. “Coming back to some sort of normalcy is exciting just because we’ve been working from home for so long.”
The tutoring center is available in-person Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. As for its availability online, the tutoring center is open on Monday – Thursday from 10 a.m.-8 p.m., Friday from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. and Sunday from 5:30 p.m.- 9:30 p.m.
