The women’s volleyball team plays Ohlone College on Wednesday in game one of a double header. They’ll face off with Santa Rosa College on Wednesday at home.

The women’s volleyball team defeated both Ohlone College and Butte College 3-0 in a doubleheader on Wednesday night.
The team hosted both games at home. Their last two away games were postponed on Sept. 1, but they won their previous game against Yuba College 3-0, putting the Hawks on a winning streak of three games.
“I feel really good for it to be my first game back after missing about three games last week,” said sophomore middle blocker Antonique Coleman. “I feel like it was really good. I feel like we had a lot of chemistry. Everybody was having fun, so that’s what made it a little bit better for sure.”
The first match against Ohlone started off with a strong serve from freshman outside hitter Jordyn Kwalwasser, scoring the first point of the game.
The Hawks held the momentum throughout the match, ending the third set with a score of 19-9 and defeating Ohlone 3-0.
The second match against Butte College also started with a serve from Kwalwasser scoring the first point. The Hawks started off strong, winning the first set 25-12.

Butte won the first point of the second set, but the Hawks quickly came back and closed the set with a score of 25-17.
During the third set, the score was nearly tied. Butte had the lead 4-6 early in the game.
Coleman spiked the ball and scored to tie the game 6-6. The Hawks gained the lead and closed the second set against Butte 25-17.
“I feel like we definitely could have played better this last game knowing us and our tempo, how fast we can go. But I definitely think we did good with our sweep for both games,” said freshman Helen Gwananji, the team’s opposite hitter.
Head Coach Kari Nahlen said winning both sets 3-0 was her favorite part of Wednesday night.
“Butte and Ohlone were both good teams. We could’ve come in not done the game plan and it could’ve taken a lot more than this,” Nahlen said ”We just came in, did our business, and got out.”
